Natalie Cagle, Marketing Director for IceDot , explains:
More people today realize the importance of helmet safety than ever before. The ICEdot Crash Sensor takes helmet safety to another level by detecting impacts and alerting emergency contacts of GPS coordinates of impact location. This is important as people tend to go on long solo rides, go out on a mountain bike rides alone, ski alone etc. It can’t prevent something from happening but it can make sure you get the help you need as fast as possible.
The ICEdot Crash Sensor, mounts to any helmet and pairs with a smart phone app. If the sensor detects forces consistent with major head trauma, the app sounds an alarm and if not disabled, notifies emergency contacts of the wearers GPS coordinates via SMS.
If you receive a critical impact to the head and are knocked unconscious or unable to utilize your phone the Crash Sensor will notify up to ten emergency contacts your GPS coordinates and SMS them that an incident has occurred.
The Crash Sensor is not bullet proof. It requires cell phone coverage to work and currently only works with an iPhone 4S or higher and the Droid 4.4 or higher. It’s simply one more layer of safety that you can apply to your active lifestyle.
The ICEdot Crash Sensor makes a great gift for the cyclist or adventurer in your life. It also provides peace of mind for those adventurers’ friends and family. Adventure Responsibly with ICEdot.
